Sahih al-Bukhari is the world-renowned masterpiece of Imam al-Bukhari, which by unanimous agreement has the honor of being regarded as the most superior book after the Noble Qur’an. One can gauge the importance and status of Sahih al-Bukhari from the fact that the amount of scholarly work produced on it so far is beyond measure.
In Sahih al-Bukhari, due to the method of establishing and arranging jurisprudential issues, the general public sometimes faces difficulty. This is because Imam al-Bukhari, in order to derive fiqhi rulings, has often repeated a single hadith in as many as ten different places.
Imam al-Zubaidi, in his work Tajrid al-Tasreeh li-Ahadith al-Jami‘ al-Sahih, presented a highly praiseworthy and easily understandable solution to this by eliminating all repetition. He mentioned each hadith only under the chapter where its relevance is most clear and evident.
Hafiz Abdul Sattar Hamad has produced a fluent, engaging, and vibrant translation of this book under the title Mukhtasar Sahih al-Bukhari. At crucial points, he has added concise yet comprehensive notes, which have further enhanced the usefulness of the book.
